New complex scheme of the analysis of river channel deformations is proposed. With the help of connections between main morphological and dynamical river parameters the analysis of vertical river channel deformations was done and new criteria dependences which define peculiarities of river channel processes are proposed. For the first time criteria morphodynamic functions are used and invariant (B/h)0,25 = f (І0,125/Fr), which is universal for usage for the rivers of different types is proposed . The assessment of channel substrate and river channel stability is done. Longitudinal profiles were researched. It helped to receive universal dependence of expansible longitudinal profile which gives an opportunity to divide rivers of different types into the categories. For the first time, based on the shape of expansible longitudinal profile of a river zoning of a territory of Upper and Middle Dniester basin is done. Based on the comparison of longitudinal profiles of researched rivers the tendencies of vertical river channel deformations of all river extension are determined.
