The purpose of the thesis is to study a process of formation and development of socio-political and economic relations between the central and provincial governments in Canada from 1867 to the beginning of the Second World War. The historical preconditions of the formation of the Dominion of Canada, in particular the process of the imperious powers' division between the federal center and provinces (according to the Constitution of 1867) were investigated, as also the process of the territory-political unification of the country and its influence on the development of the federal-provincial relations in the second half of the 19-th and at the beginning of the 20-th centuries were studied. In this thesis the role of Quebec province in the formation of the Dominion of Canada and its inner political development in the times of the territorial unification of the country were analyzed. Besides that the character of relations between the authority institutions before and during the First World War were shown, as also the peculiarities of socio-economic relations between the Canadian government and provincial governments in 1920s were investigated and the evolution of relations between the authority institutions in Canada before the Second World War were observed.
