Voloshina N. Validating parameters of the coal and gas sudden outburst prevention method in the case of the shield mining

The thesis is devoted to issues of sudden coal and gas outburst prevention in the shield excavations in steep coal seams of the Central Region of Donets Coal Basin. It is established that the increase in the total coal moisture causes the decrease in coal decay modulus, which is a breakdown characteristics of the coal massif. Parameters of sudden coal and gas outburst prevention methods based on surfactants aqueous solutions injection into a coal seam are substantiated for shield excavations in steep coal seams. It is determined that the outburst hazard is characterized by change from generalized compression to generalized tension in the deformation mode of coal seam in the vicinity of long wall, which results in changing the activation energy of methane desorption. A criterion is developed for estimating performance of the outburst preventive activity based on change in the activation energy of methane desorption from a coal seam.
