Thesis for an academic degree of Candidate of Geographic Sciences in the specialty 11.00.07 - Hydrology of land, Water recourses, Hydro-chemistry. - Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University, Kyiv, 2008. Geohydromorphological analysis of conditions, factors and peculiarities of riverbed formation on exemplary and homogeneous plots of the upper stream of the Prut river (within the territory of Ukraine) was conducted in the present work to help disclose its (riverbed formation) principal regularities in natural and anthropogenic conditions. The study of conditions and factors that influence upon the Upper Prut riverbed formation in its mountainous and pre-mountainous part was among the most important tasks of this work. The regularities in the Upper Prut riverbed formation evolutions along its stream were analyzed, as well as those in the riverbed and flood-lands temporal development in natural conditions. Outer limitations connected with the territory geological and tectonic composition and corresponding peculiarities of the meadow bottom are considered to be the basic factors that form the Upper Prut structure as regards riverbed formation. In this connection, the plots that belong to the three groups of riverbeds were outlined, namely, the alluvial, the structural-alluvial and the structural plots. The author's own geoecological view upon the ways to optimize the said riverbed and flood-lands use and preservation was suggested. Key words: geohydromorphological analysis, factors, riverbed formation, homogeneous plots, outer limitations, basin, river system, riverbed, flood-lands, alluvial environment, ecocorridor.
