The thesis is devoted to the substantiation of rational parameters for the splintered excitation winding with external condensers and equivalent circuit for the improvement of starting properties, reliability and profitability of the synchronous engine for the drives of mining machines with a heavy start-up. The connection between the construc-tive and operating parameters of synchronous engine excitation windings with its power efficiency and starting properties has been revealed. The expressions for the definition of pole coils dispersion reactivities depending on current distribution along the pole core and rotor circle considering angular opening of magnetic system have been re-ceived. The calculation method for the equivalent parameters of the splintered excitation winding and parameters for the equivalent circuit of the engine has been developed. The theoretical and experimental examination of the potentialities for resonant behavior creation in the excitation winding has been carried out. The optimization method for the determination of condenser capacity and the number of poles in the groups of splintered excitation winding with unequal condensers has been offered. The influence of addi-tional condenser weight on the general inertia moment of a rotor has been researched and established. The start-up dynamics and thermal load on windings of the engine has been estimated. The variant of assembling, protecting, and diagnosing both the con-densers and the excitation winding as a whole has been suggested.
