Essay

The dissertation is devoted to numerical analysis of sea level oscillations and spatial-temporal current variations of wind origin in the Donuzlav Lake and the Sea of Azov. Physical regularities of passive impurity evolution in the Sea of Azov are analyzed with regard to the wind forcing. The investigation is based on application of one-, two- and three-dimensional nonlinear hydrodynamic models. Necessity of account of nonlinear terms in the hydrodynamic model for shallow basins is grounded. The surface friction coefficient for the Sea of Azov is chosen by comparison of the results of the numerical experiments and observations. Sensitivity of the modeling results to different variants of the surface friction coefficient is analyzed. Acceptable accuracy of mathematical prognosis of extreme characteristics of the sea level wind disturbances is confirmed by comparison of the modeling results with the measurement date obtained on the hidrometeostation of Genychesk and Mariupol.
