Essay

The surface and nonlinear waves in layered superconductors and the effects due to their excitation are studied. The conditions for the total suppression of specular reflection effect are obtained for the surface wave excitation in the periodically modulated layered superconductor. It is shown that the peculiar type of layered superconductor nonlinearity results in hysteresis behavior of the reflected wave phase as a function of the incident wave amplitude. The dispersion law for surface Josephson plasma waves at the vacuum-layered superconductor interface was obtained and studied. The dispersion relation for nonlinear waveguide modes in metal-layered superconductor-metal system was derived.
