In the thesis the role of UN and OSCE is researched into preventing and resolving conflicts on the post-soviet space in 90-s of XX century. On the basis of comprehensive analysis the efficiency of preventive diplomacy for conflict prevention and resolution in different parts of the former Soviet Union - Baltic states, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, in the Caucasian region and Tajikistan has been scientifically proved. On the basis of scientifically-theoretical and empirical data the classification of conflicts and their differences has been made, peculiarities in conflict processes and ways of conflict resolution in the UN and OSCE cooperation have been found out, assessments to the used methods have been given. In the thesis security problems have been analyzed both in the theoretical and practical role of institutions responsible for strengthening world peace, the notion of security and sources of contemporary threats have been reconsidered, the necessity for reforms of the security architecture has been proved. The abilities for developing the process of furthering cooperation between the UN and OSCE have been ascertained. The analysis of essential and formal problems with regard to the UN and OSCE collaboration has been made in the field of conflict prevention and resolution that enables to formulate offers concerning a possible improvement of the efficiency of the UN and OSCE preventive diplomacy.
