Essay

The effect of different carbon allotropic additives on the structure and sorption properties of Mg-C composites synthesized by ball milling has been investigated. Among the additives, graphite and amorphous carbon powder promote more fine powdering of magnesium under ball milling in comparison with other carbon allotropies. There is a correlation between initial specific surface of graphite powder and specific surface of the magnesium-carbon composites obtained by the reactive ball milling and hydrogenation process duration. The structure model of the magnesium-carbon composite has been proposed. The computer simulation of hydrogenation process of the magnesium-carbon composite under non-isothermal conditions has been performed.
