Essay

Taxa inventory of cypress family in the region of research has been made, 24 species, 4 varieties and 98 ornamental forms is revealed. On the basis of comprehensive studying of their ecological features the assortment of the most perspective taxa of the given family for cultivation in Crimean steppe and foothills is selected. Analysis of growth features and reproductive development of Cupressus arizonica Greene, is carried out. Practical recommendations on use of species and cultivars of Cupres-saceae family. Prospects of further introduction and selection work on expanding of taxa diversity of cypress family' representatives and increase of their ecological stability are shown.
