Yordan H. Technology and equipment for microwave drying of book blocks.

Objective: Technology of microwave drying of book blocks. Aim: intensification of book production process by means of microwave drying of glued book blocks, optimization of the modes of drying in the designed drying unit for providing the quality of books. Methods: artificial and mathematical modelling, electronic-gravimetric, optical microscopy, roentgenography, graph-analytical, thermomechanical analysis, Pull-Test and Flex-Test, mathematical statistics. Results: main features of modern drying units have been defined, method of qualifying the correlation between heat conductivity has been established, the algorithm and appropriate software to compute the material and thermal balance in microwave unit for drying of glued book blocks have been formed, causation diagram of factors of influence on the process of drying of book blocks has been made, correlation between the mode parameters and technological factors has been established, optimization of technology of microwave drying considering the temperature and time of drying has been done.
