Object of research - development of the whole system of relations between Russia and Japan in the context of international cooperation in Northeast Asia. The purpose of research is a scientific analysis of the Russian-Japanese relations in political, economic, humanitarian spheres, as well as their characteristics, problems and perspectives. Methods: problem-chronological, historical, generalization, historical and logic analysis, content analysis, statistical, comparative, systematic and analytical. Scientific novelty: for the first time based on the introduction of a large number of various sources the detailed investigating of Russian-Japanese relations (2000-2008) is made. The practical value of the thesis consists in the possibility of using the obtained results in a process of conducting scientific works on World History, History of International Relations; by preparation the textbooks on World History and in special courses and general courses on World History. Sphere of use: higher educational institutions, Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
