Essay

Theoretical model that combines anisotropic coupled-wave theory, Monte Carlo simulations for director profile within droplet and statistical averaging with the orientational distribution function for droplet symmetry axes has been developed. To calculate light propagation through the film we have solved numerically the Maxwell equations using the finite-difference time-domain method. A theory of diffraction of optical two-beam interaction in a model planar liquid crystal cell has been developed. The criterion of effective energy exchange is obtained.
