Kachmar M. Ukrainian etiological legend: structural-semantic aspect.

The dissertation is one of the first comprehensive researches of Ukrainian etiological legends, folk works on the origin of various objects of ethnoetiology. The work accentuates structural-semantic peculiarities of etiological legends, form and content characteristics. Special attention is drawn to the link between etiological legend and etiological myth. The topicality of the research lies in the revelation and research of motives - structural components of plot, as well as that of their semantics. The etiological legend presents complex motives of various origins: mythological, apocryphal, social etc. The ethnocultural tradition continuation on structural-semantic level is traced.
