Salamakha N. Mykhaylo Pogodin and social and cultural movement in Halychyna.

Thesis is dedicated to the basic aspects of Russian historian, publicist and publisher Mykhaylo Pogodin's (1800-1875) scientific and cultural communications with the Ukrainian intellectual persons of Halychyna. Basing herself on the wide range of sources the author has analysed Pogodin's studying of Halychyna history and modern development. The factors, which had influenced Pogodin's character, opinions, social and political views, Slavonic unity ideas are considered. The personal connections of Russian and Halician scientists in the 19 th century were an important contribution to the development of Slavonic studies.
