Essay

Coalescence of point defects in two-dimensional electron lattice system is revealed. It results in formation of stripes of the charged particles and effective dimension reduction. It is shown that even arbitrarily weak disorder in one-dimensional generalized Wigner crystal results in appearance of soliton-like defects in its ground-state, and, thus, transforms generalized Wigner crystal in lattice Wigner glass. It is shown that under the influence of Coulomb interaction and at small density of electrons Anderson-localized electron system (when the dimension >1) is transformed into a weakly and arbitrarily strained electron lattice.
