Diadychko V. Aspects of the ecology of carnivorous aquatic beetles (Coleoptera, Hydradephaga) of the north-western Black Sea Region

Information on the Hydradephaga of the north-western Black Sea Region (Odessa, Nikolayev, and partly Kherson Areas of Ukraine) is for the first time summarized in this thesis. The peculiarities of ecology and biology of Hydradephaga such as biotopic distribution, life cycles and phenology, seasonal changes of species composition, abundance, and biomass, aspects of ecomorphology, relations of Hydradephaga with other organisms are discussed. Some recommendations for the protection of Hydradephaga are given. The species composition of the Hydradephaga of the region is described and 103 species from 5 families were found. The new data on the fauna of the ivestigated aeria is given, 11 species were found as new fo the ivestigated aeria, 3 species for the fist time were found in Right-Bank Ukraine and 3 species are new for the steppe zone of Ukraine
