Essay

The present dissertation paper is devoted to a new type of heat-exchanging checker for a regenerator. The checker is formed by a corrosion-resistant pipe cluster, which possesses low value of air flow, is resistant to the thermal stress destruction and has a long service life in the media of dust-laden gases. The theoretical calculations and experimental investigations on convective heat-exchange, periodic heating and cooling of pipe cluster of miniregenerators are carried out. This paper is the first to show the experimentally determined convective heat exchange coefficients in the heat exchanger of the regenerator and the experiment results are applied to choose the for-mulas of Nusselt numbers for the unit lines calculations. The equation to calculate optimal distance between the pipe axes is determined. This enables to receive equal heat exchange inside the pipes and outside of them and to obtains minimal specific consumption of material. The methodology for heat exchanger with pipes is developed for the given heat capacity of regenerative port. This methodology allows determining the length of pipe checker and the number of pipes in the pipe checker at the limitations as follows: drop in air pre-heating temperature, value of air flow, and pipe lengths.
