Essay

The thesis is devoted to the investigations of thermo-chemical treatments on optical and structural properties of nominally undoped LiNbO3 crystals, as well as on LiNbO3 crystals, doped with magnesium and iron. Temperature and temporal intervals of coloration appearance in LiNbO3 single crystals during their heating in reducing atmosphere are established in the thesis. It is shown that coloration takes place in two stages. The mathematical model of the formation of centers responsible for appearance of the absorption bands is suggested.
