Essay

The thesis investigates comprehensively Blair's model of atlanticism. In addition, different approaches to studies of Tony Blair's Labour government atlanticist foreign policy are analyzed using large source basis. The author provides insight at both origin essence and features of Blair's vision of atlanticism, its ideological foundations. The course of British-American "special relationship" along with the factors that influenced their development, are thoroughly studied. The author determines common and different features in the relations between the New Labour government and democratic administrations of Bill Clinton and republican one of George Bush Jr. Such important factors as the "United States - United Kingdom - continental Europe" triangle relations and Tony Blair's leadership style are taken into account. The dissertation sheds light on the contradictory consequences of Blair's policy for transatlantic relations. The research provides valuable recommendations of how to use the legacy of Blairism for the development and implementation of foreign policy of the independent Ukraine.
