Essay

The results of researches of the hydrocarbon compounds role in the vital functions of freshwater microalgae are presented in the thesis. The experiments with phytoplankton showed that representatives of Chlorophyta are less sensitive and planktonic species of Cyanophyta, causing the water bloom, the most sensitive to petroleum impact. The composition of hydrocarbon complexes of different species of algae is determined. The protective function of hydrocarbon compounds localized on the surface of algal cells was revealed. It is shown that algae can play a significant role in the flow of hydrocarbons in the water environment.
