Hryhoriychuk V. Ruptures of aneurysms of the aorta as the cause of sudden death (forensic and pathoanatomical analysis)

This dissertation deals with of sudden death in the result of ruptures of aneurysms of the aorta. Retrospective and prospective investigation has been carried out on 94 forensic cases of non-violent death in the result of ruptures of aneurysms of the aorta during 25 years (1982-2006) and analysis of 9 cases of death in the result of traumatic ruptures of aneurysms of the aorta during 3 years (2004-2006). In the result of in-depth investigation of the lethal cases with application of the complex of histologic and histochemical methods a concept of the causes of development of aneurysms of the ascending aorta has been elaborated. A search for etiology of aneurysms has been carried out and the decisive role of xenobiotics in their development established. Proceeding from the obtained materials of traumatic aneurysms of the aorta a working classification of ruptures of aneurysms of the aorta of traumatic character has been proposed.
