The object is the history of Byzantine Kherson in the Second half of the 10th Century - the First half of the 11th Century. The aim is to discover factors led to destruction of Byzantine Kherson in the Second half of the 10th Century - the First half of the 11th Century, to determine its date, scale and consequences. General scientific methods: observation, measuring, description, comparison, generalization, analogy, extrapolation, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction. General historical methods: heuristic, chronological, synchronous, retrospective, comparative historical, of history genetics, typological. This thesis has studied comprehensively for the first time the reasons that led to the destruction of Byzantine Kherson in the Second half of the 10th century - the first half of the 11th century. For this purpose different sources have been studied in detail and compared. The historiographic tradition formed was considered. Arguments in favour of damage dating by the first decade of the 11th century are presented. The most probable cause of the city destruction was an earthquake. Comparison of the data from written sources made it possible to exclude war and political events from the probable causes of the city destruction. The restoration was made quite regularly. Application sphere is the training courses.
