Essay

Even with the fixed number of projectile participants total number of participants fluctuates due to the nucleons from the target; this reflects in multiplicity fluctuations of charged particles. Energy dependence of fluctuations is very different in statistical and transport models; experimental data at high energies and with a large acceptance are needed. Nonequivalence of different method of selection of the most central collisions has been shown. Correlations of charged particles in various rapidity intervals are very sensitive to the method of centrality selection and the size of centrality class.
