Essay

The thesis is devoted to experimental study of the electronically-stimulated processes in rare gas solids pre-irradiated by ionizing radiation. Thermally- and photon-stimulated exoelectron emission from аtomic cryocrys-tals (solid Ne and solid Xe) was detected for the first time. By means of combined optical and current activation spectroscopy methods a new relaxation mechanism in the subsystem of localized charged particles was revealed. This mechanism is based on radiative recombination of neutral dopant atoms. Anomalous low-temperature post-desorption of rare gas atoms was revealed. A mechanism of this phenomenon was proposed. Trap energy levels corresponding to electronically-stimulated structural defects in solid Ne (~20 meV) and in solid Xe (~40 meV) were estimated. The atomic configu-ration of these defects in solid Ne was determined.
