Essay

The dependencies are experimentally found of calorific value, volatile yield and sulfur content and of coal elemental composition on ash content. It is found that thermal destruction of mineral matter when coal combustion includes not only carbonates' destruction but hydrate water and sulfur dioxide evolution which decrease measured ash content, increase volatile yield and sulfur emissions. Proposals are given to account this in standards of coal analysis and quality and when power plants operational and environmental characteristics planning.
