Essay

The dissertation is a complex historical research of symbolics development of Germans during the Russian Empire from 1763 till 1917. In the present work it was determined that German symbolics was a part of universal worldwide system of ethnic symbology, which possessed its own features of evolution since the planned resettlement of Germans to the territory of the Russian Empire. The gradual evolution process of symbolics of German from Volga, Siberia, Volhynia and Black Sea regions, south-western part of the Russian Empire, as well as other colonies, has been discussed. Based on collected and studied symbols the author built a model of Russian Empire Germans' symbols classification. One of the determinants of Germans' symbolics retaining was calendar rituals, which linked together mythological and religious symbols. In the dissertation an emphasis was made on the fact that the spiritual life of the Russian Empire Germans and its regulation by the State influenced the transformation of Germans symbolics.
