Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the complex study of the process of forming of German colonial politics in 40 - 80-ies of the XIX century. The work is based upon theoretical and methodological researches of the scientific problem, generalizing the views of foreign and Ukrainian historians and massive factology basis. This has been made up by German parliament and foreign policy documents, press materials, scientific and publicistic works of German scientists, diplomats, colonial representatives of the middle and the second part of the XIX century. Under the scientific research there have been determined content, peculiarities and stages of the colonial problematic in German society in the specified terms. There have been defined fundamental interrelations between colonial activity and activization of colonial propaganda in Germany before its first colonial gains in Africa and Oceania. It has been proved that German economical, political and power elite had the principal influence on the transit of colonial activity from theoretical field into the sphere of real colonial politics of German Empire. It has been scientifically explained that during 1871 - 1884 the major representatives of German elite have "changed their paradigms" from cool attitude to colonial projects to active support and propaganda of colonial politics. It has been stated that the final transit of colonial problematic from theoretical field to the sphere of practical state transoceanic activity took place in 1884. German Empire gained its first colonies in Africa (South-Western Africa, Togo, Camerun) and Oceania (Samoa island). It has been proved that different colonial ideas, projects, programs etc. had their influence on forming German foreign political concepts and doctrines and enabled Germany's entrance into the struggle for the colonial change of the world and gaining "a place in the sun".
