Essay

Proposed are the techniques for minimization of random errors and for exclusion of systematic ones in the absolute methods of aquametry of semi-products and raw materials for optical functional materials; the metrological characteristics of these methods are estimated. It is shown that, among the studied methods, only the titrimetric method by K. Fischer is absolute, irrespective of the content of water to be determined, and may be used as arbitration means for graduation of other methods of water determination. It is established that the methods of gas chromatography and calcium hydride gas volumetry cannot be considered absolute ones for determination of low water concentrations in organic solvents and these methods require graduation. The relative methods - spectrophotometry using the concentration dependence of the position of light absorption maximum of chloranilic acid, and dielectrometry at medium and microwave frequencies provide fast and high-precision determination of moisture content in semi-products and raw materials for optical functional materials.
