Essay

The ecologically stipulated peculiarities of the morphological variability and population structure of Frankliniella occidentalis thrips under the conditions of hothouses have been researched. It has been shown that the range of morphological variability in every individual case is a display of population heterogeneity degree in certain ecosystems. The correlation of genders in this population changes seasonally - in autumn and winter physiologically more stable females prevail. First in the territory of Ukraine the parthenogenetic population of Frankliniella occidentalis was found in greenhouse of the Vegetable factory. The females of thrips of summer and winter generations differ with color, linear body sizes and a variability degree of the former characteristics. one of agents, initiating the morphological variability, is different hygrothermal regime of greenhouse. The index of variability range of some morphological features positively correlates with a degree of the ecological plasticity and vitality of thrips populations.
