Essay

Electrocapillary phenomena at a liquid gallium electrode in alkaline solutions have been investigated. The electrochemical properties of gallium have been studied and the kinetic parameters (exchange currents, charge transfer coefficients, activation energy) of electrode (cathode and anode) reactions of gallium in alkaline fluoride and alkaline fluoride-gallate electrolytes have been determined. A method for the production of high-purity gallium been developed and patented. An experimental setup and a procedure are proposed, which allows one to obtain gallium of 99,999992-99,999999% purity.
