Essay

The object is the technological process of arc surfacing using a complex trajectory movement of the electrode. The subjects are weld pool, surfaced working layer, automated surfacing control equipment that accounts for hydrodynamic processes in the weld pool. The purpose of the work is solving the task of increasing the performance of machine parts and equipment through their recovery using arc surfacing with seams having variable trajectory of application. Methods: computational and experimental study of arc surfacing, determination of geometrical parameters of weld pool by its splash, methods of determination of samples' resistance to cracking under thermal cycling. The result is a design of an electrode movement drive for arc surfacing with seams having variable trajectory of application. The drive provides sharp changes in direction of the welding (deposition) velocity vector. This can improve endurance of the formed (deposited) working layer by reducing the heterogeneity of its properties. Application areas: engineering, metallurgy.
