The thesis is a manuscript, which was developed and proved theoretical and methodological principles and practical recommendations for development, support and development of small business in the region during the period of transition to market relations. The economic nature and content of definitions of "small business area," "small business" is defined classification criteria for small businesses. There are prerequisites for development of small business in Ukraine, have its impact on regional development, conducted a factor analysis of formation and development of small business in a market economy. Systematized and supplemented by the methodological principles of formation and development of modern small business area.
