Pishanov R. Diagnosis and surgical treatment of cervical spine complicated injuries in the late period.

The dissertation is devoted to diagnosis and treatment improving at complicated injuries of cervical spine in the late period. The research is based on the results of investigation and surgical treatment of 327 patients with complicated trauma of cervical spine in the late period. There were 271 (83%) men and 56 (17%) women; an average age was 33.9±2.5 years.At all patients indications for surgery were put aimed to remove neural structures compression and/or stabilization of unstable cervical spine area. 171 (52.3%) patients were operated. Comparative analysis of neurological status and quality of life for all parameters according to RAND 36-Item Health Survey 1.0 scale showed positive dynamics in patients, been operated in the remote period of complicated injuries of the cervical spine and spinal cord, unlike nonoperated patients.The features of disease flow, neurological symptoms, instrumental diagnostics, surgical treatment results at complicated trauma of the cervical spine in the late period were considered.Results of the study let us to increase the efficiency and outline ways for further improving of diagnostics and treatment of cervical spine complicated injuries in the late period. The main results of the research were introduced into neurosurgical practice.
