Essay

The dissertation is a thorough and complex research focused on the problem of establishment and development of co-operation between Ukraine and its neighbor states on the issue of securing the rights of national minorities in 1991-2010. The main tasks of the thesis envisage the following: to examine a degree of participation of Ukraine and its neighbor states in the activities of the UN, the Council of Europe and other international organizations as well as to establish the effectiveness of their participation that is aimed at obtaining an additional leverage over a formation of international ethno-national policy; to study problematic aspects of Ukraine's co-operation with its neighbor states on the issue of securing the rights of national minorities at bi- and multilateral international levels; to explore peculiarities in the functioning of Ukraine's as well as the neighbor states' domestic systems with regards to securing the rights of national minorities; to analyze the most important results of the activity of the UN and the Council of Europe monitoring bodies in Ukraine and its neighbor states; to scrutinize foreign ethno-national policy of the neighbor states towards Ukraine, which potentially can threaten its national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity; to systematize problematic aspects of NGOs activity in Ukraine.
