The paper is based on a wide range of sources and critical analysis of literature. It shows similarities, factors and features of the US policy towards Iran in the period from 1953 to 1978. The evolution of the U.S. policy towards Iran has been examined from the period of intensification of US-Iran relations in 1953 till the Islamic Revolution 1978-1979 in Iran , when the relationship between the two countries underwent dramatic change.
