Complex investigation of political discussions in French society on the important issues of colonial policy in Africa in the last third of the 19th century is carried out. The process of territorial and political development of French empire is researched, as well as the key provisions of French empire ideology are discovered. The political struggle in French society concerning colonial contradictions with England and Germany in African continent is examined.
