Essay

Topical scientific task to substantiate the role of lithological and petrographic, structural and tec-tonic, and paleogeographical factors in the formation of potentially diamond formations of Ray-gorodskaya strata is answered in the dissertation. New prediction-prospecting criteria are formulated and prospective areas for diamond placers are selected. Raygorodskaya strata is represented by volcanic-sedimentary and fluidizate-explosive formations that were formed in continental and coastal-marine envi-ronment from several sources in early Maastricht - Late Paleocene during Laramiyskiy stage of tectonic and magmatic activation of the Ukrainian shield. Probable sources of diamond clastic material in Ray-gorodskie coastal-marine sediments can be considered directly processed low-eroded kimberlitic pipe by wave-cut activity, which localized within shoreline of marine basin. Prospects of diamond-bearing Ray-gorodskaya strata are conditioned by finding of diamonds, minerals-satellites, kimberlitic xenotuff-breccia, by similarity between formation type and pyroclastic kimberlites in area Fort a la Korn (Sas-katchewan, Canada), by fluidizate-explosive formations, which similar to diamond minettes in area Parker Lake, Canada and to rivnenskites in the Ukrainian Shield.
