Essay

The Hannivka deposit productive rock mass at Kryvyi Ryh basin is represented be the fifth and sixth ferruginous horizons of the Saksagan series. They are made up of low grade magnetite re deposits of different genesis. Metamorphic rocks predominate in quantity, products of sodic metasomatosis, contact-metasomatic and hypergene variations are minor. Mineralogical zoning is a characteristic feature for all ore deposits, the authigenous-metamorphogenic one resides in the sections f the fifth and sixth ferruginous horizons, the metasomatic one inheres sodic metasomatite bodies. There is a regular change in morphological indexes of individuals and aggregates of ore forming minerals, their chemical composition and physical features in accordance with mineralogical zoning. It stipulates for corresponding changes in magnetite ores technological parameters for which mineralogical characteristics of magnetite and nonmetalliferous minerals are determinant. The results of topomineralogical and technological studies have been used as the basis for compiling mineralogical and technological maps for the deposit that are utilized for operation and prospective planning of mining, for elaborating schemes of optimal iron ores blending before conveying them to concentration plants with the purpose of increasing the iron ore concentrate quality and decreasing iron losses in concentration wastes.
