Essay

The thesis is a comprehensive research of church reforms in the Russian Empire in the second half of the XIX century. The research involves historiographic analysis of the problem and the use of various sources. The thesis defines and integrally reconstructs main stages of the changes affecting the superior body of church administration - Ruling Synod as well as the condition and character of the reformation in the administrative structure of eparchies. There have been analyzed the state measures of reformation of material and legal state of secular and regular clergy in the country. The thesis examines the trends of changes of the state policy referring primary educational institutions of religious authorities in the second half of the XIX century. On the basis of the analysis of legislative documents there have been determined the characteristics of reformation of theological seminaries as well as organization of scientific and educational process there. There has been analyzed the character of theological academies activity in the framework of new Statutes of 1869 and 1884.
