Essay

The dissertation is devoted to estimation of CO2 absorption by different types of vegetation in the territory of Ukraine using multispectral satellite data. Application of vegetative indexes was the base for photosynthetic activity estimation of vegetative cover in different periods of vegetative season and different years. Multispectral pictures and standard products of MODIS were used during the research. Photosynthetic activity estimation of different vegetation cover types in the territory of Ukraine for 2000-2006 years was performed. CO2 balance for administrative units of Ukraine has been calculated using data of the National cadastre of anthropogenic emissions. Interrelation of climate changes and vegetation cover dynamics which occurred in the territory of modern Ukraine during previous geological periods was considered. The analysis of modern trends of vegetation cover dynamics in the territory of Ukraine is carried out. The further researchers in this direction should be focused on creation of ground test polygons for calibration and accuracy improvement of received results. Improvement of the technique of biophysical processes estimation occurring in vegetation cover (in particular photosynthesis processes) using remote sensing.
