Essay

Research object - the process of texture mapping for image synthesis using ray-tracing in visualization systems for vehicle simulators. Research target - development of methods and application-specific processors for texture mapping with anti-aliasing for image synthesis using ray-tacing in visualization systems. Methods of research: methods of analytic geometry, digital signal processing theory, mathematical tools of boolean algebra. In order to verify operability of the developed models and methods, as well as to determine their characteristics there have been used methods of mathematical modeling. To verify the blocks of application-specific processors simulation and verification were used. Theoretical and practical results solve scientific problems of texture mapping using ray-tracing. Scientific novelty: 1) method for anisotropic filtering in the texture plane for image synthesis using ray-tracing is proposed for the first time; 2) methods for simple uneven vector textures and vector textures with arbitrary boundary lines are proposed for the first time; 3) method of rapid calculation of weighted color of pixel projection for anisotropic texture filtering tasks is proposed, 4) adaptive ray-tracing method is received further development for the edge anti-aliasing tasks. The degree of implementation - the scientific results obtained in the thesis were used to upgrade the display information system of Eupatoria Space Center (the act of 13.12.09) and were introduced into the educational process of Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics (the act of 14.12.10). The scope of use - for Ukrainian enterprises to create visualization systems for vehicle simulator, for the development of automatic process control systems for which realism of synthesized images is critical, in the educational process in the fields of design and construction of computing systems and real-time 3D visualization systems.
