Essay

The thesis is devoted to the theoretical investigation of instability of the filled liquid crystal against modulated structures formation and instability of orientational ordered in the ferronematic systems under the applied external magnetic field. We have developed a model for the theoretical description of the orientational instabilities in the ferronematic systems. We take into the account the influence of the magnetic field on the ferroparticles, nematic director and order parameter of the system. We analyze the condition, when the orientational and as a consequence an optical bistabilities may arise. We have proposed the model of the instability of the nematic liquid crystals filled with spherical micro- and nanoparticles against formation of the modulated structures. The condition, when the modulated structures may arise is investigated. This condition allows to estimate temperature of the stability loss, anchoring energy, necessary for the modulated structure formation, and wave vector of the spatial modulation.
