Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the evaluation of the influence of vitamins C and E under their isolated and combined action, their influence on the status of NO-synthase system, activity of lipoperoxidation processes and antioxidant defense enzymes in iNOS, COX-2 blockage and L-arginine introduction under conditions of adrenaline-induced stress and ulcerative colitis in rats. It was shown that the isolated action of vitamins C and E mainly cause the decrease of іNOS, nitrite anion content and activity of lipoperoxidation processes. The combined action of vitamins C and E did not cause the enhancement of their effects on the activity of NO-synthases and lipoperoxidation processes in mucosal membrane of the large intestine. The action of vitamin C under conditions of blockage of іNOS, COX-2 and L-arginine administration in adrenaline-induced stress and colitis is dominating in the regulation of NO-synthases activity ad did not cause significant changes of lipoperoxidation processes, SOD and catalase activity. The action of vitamin E on the activity of NO-synthases and lipoperoxidation processes was modeled dependently from inhibition of the activity of iNOS, COX-2 and L-arginine introduction. Inhibition of iNOS activity under conditions of vitamins C and E introduction may be the consequence of their antioxidant action.
