Essay

The object of research: the freeborn women – citizen of the Roman Republic. The aim: the characteristic of status of a woman-citizen of Ancient Rome in family and society in the Roman Republic not only according to legal norms, but also - moral norms, which reflected the personal relations between Romans. Methods: comparative-historical, historical-genetic, historical-typological, historical-systematic, problem-chronological methods, method of modeling, a quantitative method. The scientific novelty: this is the first complex research in the historiography devoted to the status of women in family and society in the Roman Republic, in particular, the author, for the first time considers the status of Roman women with the point of view of the role differentiation in family and as the main family roles are distinguished the roles of daughter, wife and mother. The practical significance: the scientific principles, the facts and findings can be used for the preparation of scientific papers, textbooks, programs and specialized courses on the history of the ancient world and the Ancient Rome, the history of religion, culturological studies, etc. Scope of use: higher educational institutions.
