Essay

Theoretical and experimental study of the physical and collecting properties of rocks has been conducted enabling the estimation of oil and gas in them. Physical relations between the elastic properties of dry rocks and saturated with fluid have been studied. The pressure dependent recurrent relations have been derived. A novel approach has been suggested to study the mechanism of pressure wave and shear wave attenuation in rocks. Theoretical expressions have been derived establishing the functional relation between elastic wave attenuation in rocks and their structural characteristics. The mechanism has been suggested establishing the empirical relations between physical and collecting properties of rocks. The method has been tested using the field data.
