The thesis is devoted to complex investigation of the role of Chancellor of the German Empire, Otto von Bismarck in the development and implementation of the colonial policy of Germany in 1871-1890. Based on analysis of a wide range of sources considered internal and external factors that influenced the colonial policy of Germany in 1871-1890 years. Investigated the ideological and political background of the German colonial expansion. The thesis examined the evolution of the views of the Chancellor of German Empire, Otto von Bismarck in the colonial question. This paper analyzed the struggle in the ruling, financial and industrial circles, as well as the public issue of Germany's colonial policy. Illuminated position of various political forces on the German colonial expansion.
