As an effective measure in reducing radionuclides levels in vegetable products using the selection of species and varieties of vegetables that do not require additional investment was proposed. Allowable density of two types of soil contamination with 137Cs growing vegetables in gardens in remote period after radioactive fallout was calculated. Analysis of components of the consumer basket of Polissya region residents living in radioactively contaminated areas showed that the crop component begins to prevail over the livestock, and wild mushrooms and berries became stuff. The findings of research used to informing the population of the current radiological situation and possible ways to get vegetables with minimum values of the transfer factor.
