Object of research: the processes of socio-economic development of municipalities. Purpose: To deepen theoretical and methodological basis and development of practical recommendations for improvement of the mechanism management of social and economic development of municipalities. Methods: generalization, economic, statistical and cluster analysis. Novelty: first proposed structural model of the mechanism of inter-municipal cooperation, which includes a set of forms and instruments realization of inter-municipal cooperation for the establishment of joint economic entities, improving the quality of municipal services in housing, social and cultural infrastructure and livelihood, the methodological approaches to the interpretation of the notion "municipal entity" system of organizational and economic regulators of municipal policy are improved. Scope: in the activities of the Economic Lviv regional state administration in developing the draft program of small towns in Lviv region, Kyiv Regional State Administration in the preparation of materials for monitoring implementation of the Strategy development of the Kiev region until 2015.
