Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of the prognostic and predictive value of immunohistochemical markers in squamous cancers of the oropharynx and to the definition of main and additional criteria for determining the clinical course. Immunophenotype of squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx with a high risk of metastasis in regional lymph nodes in the neck and low sensitivity to chemotherapy, are first refined. Statistically confirmed that for detection of squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx with a high risk of metastasis in regional lymph nodes in the neck, with a forecasting aim it is necessary to use as main markers E-cadherin (р<0,001), CD34, -catenin, Ki-67 (р<0,01) as additional ММP-9, VEGF, р21WAF1 (р<0,05). For identifying squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx with low sensitivity to chemotherapy with predictive purpose should be used as the main markers р21WAF1 (р<0,001), VEGF, ММР-9 (р<0,01) as additional Кі-67, E-cadherin, CD34, ММP-1 (р<0,05). Correlation between clinical and morphological features of squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx and rates of markers expression, are determined. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive number and negative predictive number on the use of prognostic and predictive markers for the diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the oropharynx are calculated.
